IR Sensor Tester

Most of the Remote control systems use TSOP 1738 IR Sensor module to control various functions. This IR Sensor is highly sensitive and may damage easily, if is supply voltage increases above 6 volts. This tester is useful to check the working of the IR Sensor. It gives audio-visual indications when the IR sensor is working properly.

  1. Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch as I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!

  3. Dear Sri DMK,
In the local markets- AC operated Tester for TV or any other remotes- is available. we can just connect them to the main plug point and when the remote under test is pointed to it and pressed, it blinks an LED and also a buzzer in it buzzzzes. I feel the same circuit with some modifications can be used for reverse testing from remote to sensors. Can it be worked out?

    1. Dear vhhp
AC operated Remote testers are available in the market. It can be used as sensor tester by removing the sensor and connecting test probes in the solder points of sensor. But AC operated tester is dangerous and there is risk of shock. The circuit published here can be used for on board testing of IR sensor before replacement and also a quick check of the new one before soldering.

      1. Oh! I forgot about the AC hazards. That is why a master is a master always. Thank you sir!
