How Colours affect our Life? Fact File 3


Colour is the visual perception of different wavelengths of light such as red, green etc. Colour derives from the spectrum of visible light which interact with the colour sensitive cells of the retina to give the colour vision. Colour may be defined or quantified based on the degree by which the various colour sensitive cells are stimulated. The science of colour is the Chromatics that includes the perception of colour, origin of colour in the materials and involvement of brain. Colourology is the science of colours and their impact on human beings.

Toothed Whale uses Bisonar system


Echolocation evolved in aquatic mammals about 30 million years ago during the Eocene period. Whales and other aquatic mammals like Dolphins, Seal, Porpoise etc use Ultra sound for navigation and predation. Whales live in an environment that has acoustic characters but with low visibility due to the turbidity of water. So they use the sonar mechanism for navigation. Whales, especially Toothed whale uses Bisonar system for echolocation. Bisonar in toothed whale uses two frequencies like FM and CF for locating the objects. Sonar is a system that detects objects through sound waves. The word SONAR is the acronym for SOund Navigation And Ranging.

Bat uses FM Frequency


Echolocation is the biological sonar system used by some animals to navigate or locating prey. They emit ultrasounds in various frequencies that reflect back from the objects. These animals have special ear and brain adaptations to detect the reflected sound. Echolocation is found in animals like Bats, Toothed Whales, Shrews, Dolphins and in some birds. The interesting feature is that Bats emit FM frequencies for precise range discrimination and localization of the target.

Kirlian Imaging


Kirlian imaging is the method of representing energy forms of the body in a visual form. The method rely on the fact that all living organisms emits energy in various forms like heat ,light, sound, chemical energy etc due to the internal metabolism. By using the Kirlian photography, these energy forms can be imaged. The True Kirlian imaging technique involves the introduction of ultra low current with high frequency and high voltage to the object to amplify the energy forms of the object. The image is then produced on a camera. Researches are going on to image the energy halo around the human body so that it will become a valuable tool in medical and neurosciences to assess the different states of human mind and body, energy levels in various states, energy flow between persons etc.
